Many of you realize that there are changes happening at The Coffee Gallery, and there will be new things happening many nights. This includes the Open Mics on Fridays and Sundays. This video is of the "swan song" of the previous Open Mic team, Duane Thorin and Donna Barnes-Roberts.
It is strangely appropriate that this song, sung and performed by Duane summed up our philosophy of self-empowerment that we tried to extoll in all our open mic dealings. It is not about fame, showing off, or being better than your neighbor. It is about connecting with your inner creative force and letting that force lead you to a better place. I hope that the new teams that are running the Open Mics at The Coffee Gallery come to see what they do in a similar light.
I hope that the next teams and all the future performers enjoy their time together as much as we enjoyed all of your involvement. Duane will still be helping Bob Stane in the Backstage and Donna will still be teaching watercolor in the conference room. Hope to see you all around. Maybe there is a song in all of this. I sure think so.

Songwriter Spotlight coming Thursday, 9/22/11 to The Frontstage
I am so jazzed to be performing tomorrow night with a bunch of much more seasoned talent. Pat Nason is a noted music writer who also writes fabulous songs. If you haven't seen him (He doesn't get out to visit us as often as we like), you should. Pierre and Mikey are part of Wreck and Sow and came out and wowed us last weekend. Of course, Tatiana just rocks and plays so natural with that uke and what a songwriter! Then Jacob, who lives in the neighborhood and writes and performs fabulous.
Leaving me for last, Donna Barnes-Roberts - probably one of the newest older persons to attempt the re-invention oneself as a songwriter. I have my uke handy and am not (very) afraid to use it.
Should be an absolute magical nights and I am sure there will be surprises. There always are.
Any misspellings of the participant's names/monikers are entirely the result of Donna's mistakes. You may let me know about anything incorrect or screwed up at the show. See yout hen.

Coffee Gallery Frontstage Events are Back - thank you Altadena
Yep, all the fabulous Coffee Gallery Frontstage events that made us all part of a wonderful artistic COMMUNITY have been STARTED UP AGAIN! And here is our thanks to the community
So come on down on Friday of Sunday nights starting at 8PM for the musical open mic! Yes, this means NOW!
To contact us, send email to: galleryfrontstageevents@gmail.com
The offerings depend upon YOU for both the entertainment (musicians and such) and the audience. Fun starts at about 8PM, and you can sign up late or early. We allow each person to perform one song, though an act with more than one person MAY do two. That way we hope that we can come around again and everyone can get up to perform at least two times.
